The Q-SPD FD series is a versatile drive that can suit many different applications and vessels

The FD series drives come in three basic configurations, adjustable, fixed and direct drive. The adjustable and fixed drives have an integral thrust bearing to take the propeller thrust and stop it being transmitted further up the shaft to the engine and gearbox.

The direct drive has a straight drive shaft that continues up to the remote thrust bearing or directly to the gearbox.The rudder module is separate to the propeller housing this can allow many different options for the designer or boat builder when considering the placement of the rudders. It is possible to mount the rudders along side the propellers, giving improved performance and a smoother/quieter driveline as the rudders will not be effected like a trailing rudder design. An added benefit is that the overall length of the drive unit will be shorter, this means the vessels waterline length does not have to be compromised.

The Propeller housing, which is made from composite materials, also has several options, it can be mounted on a variety of different transom angles. In addition the housing may include some of the propeller ventilation and the exhaust outlet.
